First Birthday!

New Toys!

Sharing with Judah...
Can I touch the flame?
The birthday cake - true motherhood initiation (how did it split down the middle like that?)
Sophia's mini-cake!
A new bike!

What am I supposed to do with this?
Do I have to wear clothes? It's my birthday...
At church in her birthday hat!

What a Wild Year....

O Tannenbaum...

Sophia got her first Christmas tree! We were very nervous about putting up-afraid that she would pull it over on herself. She does love it, but fear not, it is still not as facinating as the cord behind the refrigerator.

Walk On...

The time has come. Sophia started walking over Thanksgiving and has yet to look back over her shoulder. I thought some really cute pictures of walking would occur but really the above best describes my new reality of chasing after her.

Thanksgiving

Sophia's first Thanksgiving was very exciting! She finally got to try real sweet potatoes...the inspiration for her favorite Gerber flavor...

In Honor of...Titi Ruthie.

And now a reflective post in honor of Sophia's dear Titi Ruthie aka Titi Dooginess (one of the four people who ever look at this blog.)
In a little over a week, or yesterday, according to The Knot. Com, RuthA will be marrying and leaving the nursery behind forever. Though it is truly another beginning in her life, Sophia would like to take this occasion to thank her favorite of her mother's sisters, the one with the golden hormone-induced curls. Ruthie is fluent in that most unique of languages- the elfin speech of misunderstood children and though she and Sophia are known to have their differences, even their wars of the will cannot conquer their kindred friendship. Godspeed Titi Ruthie - and Sophia looks forward to being tanner than all of the cousins you one day provide her with.

Sophia loved Titi Ruthie's graduation.

See, Ruthie loved Sophia before she even arrived...
In this picture I am officially three times the weight of Ruthie. Don't be misled by Ruthie's strained smile. She thinks Sophia is very boring right now.

Mall Fun!

For her Abuelita's birthday, Sophia took a trip to MacArthur Mall which has an amazing playplace of foam fast food! Oh the joy of climbing all over jumbo sized potato chips and lounging atop a giant relish-covered hot dog. Sophia felt very American.
Here Sophia meets Lily Strickland for the first time! I've known Lily's parents Alan and Lori for forever and we had a very exciting chance meeting in the elevator!

Better than TV...

Ahh, the front-loading washing machine. Endless hours- I mean minutes- of entertainment and facination. Given the choice between looking into the washing machine and going to Busch Gardens, Sophia would be quite torn.

A Very Happy Harvest...

Sophia's Jack O'Lantern
Since Trick or Treating was such a significant part of childhood in my family it was only fitting that some Merry Tricksters from San Marcos Ct. came to Williamsburg to go with Sophia on her first Halloween...

Sophia's first stop-a special house on Scotland St....and one of the only ones to have candy!

Sophia's good friend Judah was a Bumblebee too!

Flight of the Bumblebee

Sophia attended her first costume party on Sunday! Though she was confused to be wearing the equivalent of a large snowsuit in 65 degree weather she was a good sport. She's still working out her personal stance on Halloween but in the meantime it was a great chance to get some pretty cute pictures. Can you findthe Busy Bee in the group shots?...it's like one of those Magie Eye posters...
